I trained NAPO well; he’s not arrogant – Otumfuo tells critics

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has urged the Vice Presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh to show proof that the training he got as a royal of Asanteman did not include being arrogant.

He disagreed with assertions that Dr Opoku Prempeh is arrogant stressing that he was well brought up and must act to dispel any such accusations of arrogance going forward.

Speaking at his palace, the Manhyia, when Dr Opoku Prempeh was formally presented to him by the leadership of the NPP, the Asantehene enjoined to not disappoint by working hard and succeeding at his role, adding he must let the good training he got as a royal show and do away with the tag of arrogance.

“When you were confirmed as the vice presidential candidate, I heard some people say you’re arrogant. And I disagreed with them. I replied that I trained you well at home so you can’t be arrogant. So why is it being said that you’re arrogant? I insist you’re not arrogant. So endeavour to do away with whatever makes people think you’re arrogant,” he said in Twi.

The Asantehene added that by the grace of God and with prayers, Dr Opoku Prempeh will succeed with his boss; win the upcoming General Elections.

Dr Opoku Prempeh was later formally unveiled as running mate to Dr Bawumia at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi.
