I bought a plot of land after 2008 AFCON – Fatau Dauda

Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Fatau Dauda has revealed that he purchased a plot of land with money earned from the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ghana and Nigeria.

The former Ghana international shared this information as a form of motivation to inspire young players to invest while actively playing.

Dauda disclosed that the plot he bought at that time is now where he has built his house, and the land's current value is six times what he initially paid.

“Life after football is our decision. I'm not saying I'm perfect, but I started this when I was at AshGold,” he told Joy Sports.

“During the AFCON 2008, we made money, a lot of money. The only car I bought at that time was a Golf. I can afford to buy a Land Cruiser or anything else now, but I chose the Golf.

“My mother had a house, and my father was not around. I wanted to build a house, so I bought a Golf.

“However, I realized that is the car I could maintain. If I bought a Range Rover, I might struggle to maintain it and would end up selling it for a lower price.

“Where I stay now, I bought the land for ten thousand dollars but now a plot of land there is 75,000 dollars. That’s the difference between asset and liability.”
