The Member of Parliament(MP) for Bongo constituency, Edward Bawa is of the opinion that the Attorney General of Ghana, Godfred Dame has no moral right to talk about anything in Ghana,
According to him, Godfred Dame should have resigned from office long time ago over his involvement in the infamous leaked tape among others
During a panel discussion on TV3’s NewDay, Edward stated that Godfred Dame has created a perception and negative impression about the Attorney General’s office hence needs to resign.
According to him, he has no moral right to sit and talk about anything in Ghana due to how he manhandled the trial of businessman Richard Jakpa.
“In any jurisdiction, he must resign. He has no moral right to sit and talk about anything. For such a person to go to supreme court and talk about the fact that the speaker and his representatives were disrespectful to the court, he should be the last person to talk”, Edward Bawa asserted.
This comment from Edward Bawa was in response to comments by Godfred Dame after he described the decision by the 7th Parliament led by Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye to declare the seat of Fomena MP, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, vacant in 2020 as wrong.
Arguing at the Supreme Court regarding the status of the vacant seats of four Members of Parliament(MPs), Godfred Yeboah Dame noted that despite earlier precedents, the decision by Speaker Alban Bagbin to declare the seats vacant was unconstitutional.
He explained that the decision of a legislator going into an election must not affect the present composition of Parliament per the constitution.
