Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured Nananom to deal with chieftaincy disputes when he comes to power after the 2024 elections.
He noticed that most of the disputes are the result of succession-related issues.
The NPP flagbearer will work with the judicial council and the National House of Chiefs to codify lines of succession for all chiefs across the country.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who is in the Twifo Hemang to campaign when meeting with the Chiefs, said, “There are a number of Chieftaincy disputes we are battling in this country. These disputes are disturbing our peace as a nation.
I want to work together with the judicial council and the National House of Chiefs so that we will codify all the lines of succession to all the stools and kings in Ghana. We will digitalize all these for everyone to know the line of succession. If everyone is aware of the line of succession, I think there won’t be any form of dispute”.
