At the just-ended Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) annual awards, Ademola Lookman emerged as the men’s Player of the Year category winner.
This gives Nigeria seven of the Player of the Year awards since its inception.
This is followed by Cote d’Ivoire with six (6).
Ghana’s hero Abedi Pele was the first receiver of this prestigious award in 1992, followed by the Nigerian international Rashidi Yekini in 1993.
Other countries that have seen their players win the prestigious award include Togo, Mali, Gabon, Senegal, Cameroon, Egypt, and Morocco.
