2024 Polls: No Space for the NDC – Afenyo-Markin predicts NPP’s landslide victory

New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has expressed unwavering confidence in his party’s ability to secure a parliamentary majority and clinch the presidency in the upcoming elections.

In a discussion on Peace FM’s morning show monitored by MyNewsGH.com, he emphasized the NPP’s determination to outmanoeuvre the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and emerge victorious.

“We are not going to allow the NDC any space to gain ground,” Afenyo-Markin declared firmly, reflecting on the narrow majority the NPP experienced following the 2020 elections.

He acknowledged the NDC’s strategy, which had been highly effective in increasing their parliamentary seats in the previous election, posing a challenge to the NPP’s stronghold.

According to Afenyo-Markin, the NDC’s approach in 2020 was calculated, especially with the idea that John Dramani Mahama would lose to President Nana Akufo-Addo.

He pointed out, “Their campaign encouraged voters to split their ballots.

Many believed Mahama would lose, so they focused on reclaiming parliamentary seats—and it worked for them.”

However, this time, the NPP is determined to reverse the outcome. Afenyo-Markin assured that the party has learned valuable lessons from the past and is planning to secure a significant number of parliamentary seats.

“We are prepared, and we know what it takes to regain our majority,” he affirmed.
Touching on the upcoming elections, Afenyo-Markin also accused the NDC of being overly reliant on protest tactics in areas affected by galamsey (illegal mining), hoping to win popularity through constant demonstrations.

He dismissed these efforts as ineffective, noting, “The NDC believes their protests in galamsey regions will win them votes, but I doubt it will have a lasting impact.

“The people are looking for real solutions, not just noise,” he said confidently
