You won’t be spared of the consequences of the problems you create – Eric Adjei warns EC

National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist, Eric Adjei, has warned that the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) will suffer the consequences of the problems it is creating by its refusal to allow for a forensic audit of the Voters’ Register.

Mr Adjei, who is the Deputy Spokesperson of the Campaign of the Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), thinks that the intransigence of the EC is tantamount to deliberately creating the conditions for mistrust in the electoral process, which could result in chaos in the country.

“The Electoral Commission Ghana should be aware that their actions cannot create problems from which they will be exempted from any consequences,” he wrote on Facebook sighted by MyNewsGh.com.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) had requested a forensic audit of the Voters’ Register to ensure that concerns with manipulation of the register such as illegal transfers of voters and the addition of questionable voters to the electoral roll.

Following a recent voter exhibition exercise, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) got evidence of illegal transfers of voters and other alleged acts of manipulation of the register and therefore requested for an independent forensic audit of the provisional voters’ register to ensure its accuracy and credibility.

However, the EC has insisted that the NDC’s concerns have been addressed and there is therefore no need for a forensic audit.

The NDC has set September 27, 2024, to stage a nationwide demonstration in demand for the audit. The EC insists there is no cause for alarm.
