Director of Legal Affairs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tameklo has responded to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his recent comment on the arrest of 53 Democracy Hub protesters during an interview in France.
According to him, the President cannot say that he is not behind the arrest of the protesters because the Attorney-General who is an appointee and Chief Legal Advisor to the President and government and the Inspector General of Police(IGP) arrested and detained these protesters with the power he gave them.
“The person who is in court prosecuting these protesters is an appointee of Akufo-Addo, the person who arrested these protesters is the IGP appointed by Akufo-Addo,” Edudzi said
Edudzi further accused the President of being dishonest while chastising him for ignoring the local press but granting interviews to international, media who could not fact-check him during the interview.
“The level of dishonesty is terrible, he ignores local media and grants interviews to international, the reason he does this is that there is no benefit of fact-checking him.” He stressed.
This comment from Edudzi Tameklo comes after the president during an interview with France 24 on Friday, October 4, where he debunked claims that the arrest and detention of some 53 protesters is an attempt to suppress protest in Ghana.
