The Electoral Commission (EC) won’t go ahead with the re-collation of results in the Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North parliamentary constituencies, citing several complications that have hindered the process.
In Dome Kwabenya, the process was brought to a standstill due to the absence of pink sheets from three key polling stations.
These documents, now only available in digital format, have proven difficult to convert back into hard copies, stalling progress.
Both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been unable to provide the missing records, further escalating tensions.
The NPP has pointed to violence during the initial collation as the root cause of the missing documents, claiming their agents were assaulted and crucial paperwork was either seized or destroyed amidst the chaos.
With both major parties unable to submit the necessary election documentation, the EC faces an uphill battle in trying to resolve the matter, while the electoral process remains clouded in uncertainty.
Meanwhile, following the re-collation of results mandated by the Accra High Court, the Electoral Commission (EC) has started announcing the winners of the nine disputed parliamentary constituencies.
