Presidential Spokesperson Felix Ofosu Kwakye has defended the decision to appoint a Minister in Charge of Climate Change when there is already a Minister for Environment Science and Technology.
To him, climate change has become very topical, with governments around the world investing to ensure that issues with regard to it are addressed.
He explains that the President deems it an important subject matter and thought it through before arriving on having a ministry to handle issues concerning climate change.
“climate change is on the front burner in many countries; it is the number one issue…powerful countries are gravitating towards putting in more resources to ensure they overcome it.
“The Minister is an advisor at the presidency at the policy level…President Mahama thought through and determined what he needed,” he said while speaking on TV3’s Key Points.
On the current appointments and calls for the President to apologize and add more ministers, he indicated that John Dramani Mahama insist on running a lean but efficient government to benefit the people of Ghana.
