Vim Lady descends on media colleagues over refusal to facts-check information

Renowned Broadcast Journalist Afia Pokua, known widely as Vim Lady has descended on her media colleagues for using their platforms for the wrong motives.

Vim Lady expressed her concern during her political show, “Egyaso Gyaso” where he blamed journalists for being the reason misinformation and disinformation has gained notoriety indicating it because journalist refuse to do fact-checks when their panellists share a piece of particular information on their platform.

“The media is part of the reason why Ghana is gradually deteriorating. One of the key responsibilities of the media is to set an agenda and highlight important topics that will help in the development of the country.

But the Journalists now set agendas to favour politicians. So as a Journalist, our job is to put these politicians on their toes to work not fun fooling them. It is our jobs to facts check the information so you put your panelists in check when they are spewing misinformation on your platform.” She advised.

Afia Pokua cited an example where she mentioned how some Journalists corrected Donald Trump when he shared a piece of information during his debate with Kamala Harris. She commended the Journalists in the US while asking the number of Ghanaian Journalists who can fact-check the President of Ghana without fear.

This comment from Vim Lady comes following the trending issue of a journalist identified as “Afia Pokua” who misinformed the viewers with her presentation and also disrespected the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II during an interview on Onua TV during a panel discussion without the host correcting some of her utterances.
