Rapper, Sarkodie has expressed concern over contracts signed by artists who are part of Record Labels.
According to him, he was given contracts to sign with a huge chunk of documents.
However, he wanted his freedom so he did not sign.
The Ghanaian rapper noted that these record labels have locked most of his colleagues in cages but he has the freedom to do what he wants with his music.
“I did this thing myself I never messed with Majors. They gave me documents like 1000 pages. I want my freedom because most of my homies are locked in cages. I taught you how to do this thing the right way, they smile with you but rob you in broad day,” he said.
Sarkodie talks about how now he has to talk to people before he can get access to his colleagues, adding that they will even split the publishing before the song is done; something which wasn’t the case in the past.
He further said “African music couldn’t cross but as soon as we signed papers labels opened their doors. Now I see how you all really move because that is the same thing fraud people do”.
