The overlord of Dagbon Ya-Na Abukari II has urged African leaders and others in the developing world to put premium on getting knowledge and acquiring skills from the developed world rather than just financial support.
The king explained that knowledge transfer and exchange programmes are pivotal in accelerating the development of Africa.
Speaking yesterday Monday, July 8, 2024 in Turkey, during a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of the Bursa Technical University (BTU) as part of his 10-day working visit to Turkey, the Ya-Na argued that while financial support has its role, knowledge and skills transfer are crucial in transforming the continent for good.
The Ya-Na was full of praise for Prof. Dr. Naci Caglar, Vice-Chancellor of Bursa Technical University, for agreeing to a partnership with the Tamale Technical University(Tatu) through which the two universities shall engage in research, exchange programmes and scholarships.
The partnership will ensure that the Tamale Technical University benefits in the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics and engineering among others.
The Ya-Na’s meeting with the Vice Chancellor represents the first important step in ensuring that the Bursa University and the Tamale Technical University engage in a mutually beneficial partnership.
