Former Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has indicated that the party needs to focus on ensuring there is unity in the political party.
He says this is not the time the party should be divided along the lines of who becomes the next flagbearer of the political party.
To Freddie Blay, what the party needs to focus on now is identifying what caused their defeat and why the members of the political party refused to come out and vote in the 2024 elections.
After this, he believes that the party can make a decision on who will lead them in the 2028 elections.
Speaking to Gh One in an interview, he indicated that even though he will want Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the political party.
“As an individual, I will love Dr. Bawumia, but I don’t decide this alone. As I speak, others are also lacing their boots, but now we have serious problems to deal with, including finding out why people didn’t vote.
I think he was good, he is still good. I think he will be the best person for the country. Let’s leave it for the party to decide. It is important we keep our party united”
