In the heart of the Oti Region, political tensions surge as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) intensifies its campaign efforts ahead of the December elections.
Akpabeh Jonathan Manu, the NPP’s Oti Regional Secretary, has launched a scathing critique against National Democratic Congress (NDC) Members of Parliament (MPs) representing the region.
In a bold statement to Asaase Radio, Manu denounced them as “mumu” MPs, accusing them of neglecting the pressing needs of their constituents in Parliament.
“It is enough,” Manu asserted, highlighting what he perceives as a history of underdevelopment under their governance.
With all eight parliamentary seats currently held by the NDC, Manu declared the need for change, emphasising the NPP’s ambition to secure significant electoral gains in the upcoming polls.
Speaking alongside the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Akan Constituency, Mustapha Tassah, during a campaign team launch, Manu reiterated his party’s determination to reshape the political landscape of the region.
“It is time to change the narratives to win seats in the Oti region and we can make it a reality,” he affirmed, pointing to government initiatives that have reportedly uplifted communities across the region.
Despite the NDC’s longstanding stronghold, carved out from the Volta Region in 2018, Manu remains optimistic about the NPP’s prospects.
The party has been actively engaging with local communities, showcasing their achievements and rallying support for their campaign.
