NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia pledges sports fund for infrastructure and talent development
Vice President and NPP's 2024 Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced plans to establish a sports fund dedicated to enhancing sports infrastructure and nurturing talent.Unveiled during the NPP's 2024 manifesto launch at GSTS in Takoradi on Sunday, this initiative is a key part of his vision for sports development.The proposed sports development fund will focus on infrastructure development, talent nurturing, and grassroots sports programs, including the revival of colts football and leagues nationwide."We will establish a sports development fund to develop sports infrastructure and talent development and grassroots sports program including the revival of colts sports football and leagues across the country," he said."We will establish a Ghana school sports secretariat which will be an agency under the ministry responsible for sports in collaboration with other stakeholders such as the GES and sports federations."My government will seek school level collaboration with international sports bodies like the NBA and the NFL to make Ghana a hub for these emerging sports in Africa to create more opportunities for young people," .
