NDC’s intention isn’t to bastardize the EC; we just want transparency – Computer

The Deputy Director of elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, has disclosed that the party has no intentions to bastardize the Electoral Commission(EC) over the voters register.

During an interview with Joy News, Dr Rashid Tanko-Computer disclosed that the NDC does not want to banter with the Electoral Commission over a situation they created themselves but is only seeking transparency in the conduct of the 2024 polls.

“Our intention as a political party is not to bastardize the EC; we just wanted them to come clean. We wanted transparency. The issue with the register is that they had about 143,000 names which was one of the issues we raised initially. When they brought the last revised one, we realized that they cleaned up all the dirty ones. And have sanitized it to some point” Rashid Tanko disclosed.

Rashid Tanko stated that the fact that the NDC didn’t present a document to address the issue does not imply the party was satisfied with the EC.

Rashid Tanko further revealed that after they met up with the EC, they told them the NDC had no intentions of antagonizing them but rather helped sanitize the process.

The Electoral Commission’s (EC) final voter list for the next elections has caused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to express grave concerns.

Even though EC Chairperson Jean Mensa confirmed that the final voter list was ready to go in order to guarantee a legitimate election process on December 7, 2024, the NDC is still skeptical.

Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer however restated the party’s concerns while pointing out particular register sections that continue to cause issues.

He pointed out that the EC had only provided a register, without the numbers that he believed were necessary for accountability and transparency.
