Hectic travel affected our performance last season – Medeama Technical Director Evans Adotey

Medeama SC Technical Director Augustine Evans Adotey has pointed to the demanding travel schedule as a key factor behind the team's lackluster performance in the Ghana Premier League last season. The Yellow and Mauves, who clinched their maiden league title in the 2022/23 season, saw a dramatic drop to eighth place in the subsequent campaign, finishing 12 points adrift of champions FC Samartex.Adotey, who also spearheaded Medeama's CAF Champions League campaign last year, attributed their struggles to the rigorous travel and continental competition.“So the target now for Medeama, as I speak, is to reclaim the title. By the end of the season, Medeama is champions of Ghana. Playing away from home, traveling to and fro, the team was engaged in outstanding matches.“Talk of the Premier League, after an outstanding Premier League game, you have to travel back to Cape Coast. Sometimes you travel from Kumasi to Takwa. Takwa to Cape Coast, it was terrible. These are also some of the factors that contributed to our exit from the tournament.“But all the same, I'm saying the past is gone. All that we need to do is defend the title. Unfortunately, it slipped by.”
