After four years of creation without a representative on the floor of parliament, the people of Guan Constitutuency have elected Fred Kwesi Agbenyo as the new member of parliament.
The former national communication officer of the NDC secured 9,963 out of 13,164 valid votes cast, leaving his closest contender, Michael Osibo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), with 2,998 votes.
The Guan Constituency, covering an expansive 1,722 square kilometers, is a thriving agricultural hub.
Agbenyo has thanked the Guan people for their faith in him and the NDC government in a brief victory speech.
He urged the residents to rally behind him and be united for transformative development in the area.
He assured the people of his commitment to empowering and driving the good policies of the NDC government to benefit all . Agbenyo said he will also collaborate with the candidates, urging them to support him in his efforts to develop the region.
Residents told Asaase News that they elected Fred Kwesi Agbenyo to help develop the area.
They urged the elected MP to make sure he concentrates on developing the constituency through initiatives and projects that will benefit the people, particularly the young people.
The residents’ concerns include the water system, education, agriculture, road networks, youth employment, and access to high-quality healthcare.
They have pledged their support to rally behind the newly elected MP to ensure Guan constituency is developed .
