Ghana champions Samartex will play their CAF Champions League home games at the Accra Sports Stadium following approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).The Timber giants are representing Ghana in the CAF elite competition next season following their historic Ghana Premier League triumph last season, dethroning Medeama.Samartex will travel to face Cameroonian champions, Victoria United FC on August 18, 2024 at the Omnisport Stadium before the return fixture in Ghana on August 25.However, the Timber giants in a statement has confirmed the Accra Sports Stadium as their home venue for the campaign.“The management of FC Samartex wishes to formally notify our cherished supporters and the wider sporting community that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the venue for the Champions League” the club wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.Samartex are aiming to make a mark in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.The team is currently in the Eastern Region (Akropong), preparing for the Africa season.The winner of the tie will progress to the second preliminary round where they potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a place in the group stages.
