The Electoral Commission (EC) has said the processes of producing the final register for the upcoming December election is in its early stages.
This comes after the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presented a petition to the Electoral Commission after its nationwide protest to call for a forensic audit of the current voters’ register.
The EC said it will review the petition and provide its response in the coming days.
A statement issued by the EC on Tuesday (17 September), said it is committed to delivering a credible and robust register for the December polls.
”The Electoral Commission has received the petition submitted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the end of their demonstration on Tuesday, 17 September 2024. The Commission will review the petition and provide response in the coming days.”
”The Commission is mindful that the voters register is the bedrock of credible, fair and transparent Elections. We assure the NDC and all stakeholders of our avowed commitment to delivering a credible and robust final register ahead of the December 2024 elections,” the EC statement said.
