Comedian Derrick Kobina Bonney, widely known as DKB, has found himself at the centre of controversy following the release of an advertisement promoting former president John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy initiative.

The skit, intended to highlight Mahama’s well-known proposal to keep businesses and banks operating around the clock, has drawn criticism from various quarters, including members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a minor segment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and neutral observers.

DKB’s comic portrayal of the 24-hour economy was met with backlash, with many accusing him of spreading misinformation through a poorly executed skit. Some viewers interpreted the video as overly simplistic, with concerns that it could mislead the public about the realities of implementing such an initiative.

The advertisement, which suggested that businesses and banks would be open 24/7, sparked a heated debate online, with critics arguing that it failed to properly address the complexities of such a proposal.

In response to the criticism, DKB took to social media to acknowledge the negative feedback and offer an apology for any offence caused by the skit.
