Barima Twumasi Bekoe II declares “Ghana Day” in Columbus, Ohio

Under the vibrant theme “Heritage to Horizon – 21 Years Strong,” Barima Twumasi Bekoe II, President of the Traditional House of Ghanaian Chiefs in Columbus, has told the Ghanaian community in Ohio that he has declared the second Saturday in August as “Ghana Day in Ohio.

Every second Saturday in August, “GhanapicOhio” brings together diverse Ghanaian community in Columbus, uniting churches, associations, businesses, families, and friends for the largest Ghanaian American picnic at Maloney Park, Columbus, Ohio.

In his farewell speech, Barima Twumasi Bekoe II (in private Marvin Owusu) Twafohene, Kofiasuahene, and Kotodwehene of Dormaa Traditional Area expressed heartfelt gratitude to the servant leaders who have made GhanapicOhio a resounding success.

He acknowledged the selfless dedication of Elder Kwabena Boamah-Acheampong, Chair of GhanapicOhio, Madam Cynthia Engmann, President of Ghana Council Ohio, and Rev Patrick Amoah, President of
The Council of Ghanaian Churches in Ohio, for their exemplary unity in patronizing and sustaining GhanapicOhio.

In 2024, GhanapicOhio attracted an impressive array of over 50 organizations and an attendance of over 5000, including:
