Amend some Ghanaian proverbs, wise sayings – Radio Personality

Renowned entertainment broadcaster, Dr. Pounds born Maximous Addae Mensah has jovially called for some Ghanaian proverbs to be amended.

According to the radio presenter who works at Accra-based multimedia firm Hitz FM, some local ‘Akan’ wise sayings and adages need amendments just like the constitution of Ghana.

During a one-on-one interview with Amansan Krakye, the celebrated media personality said some of our indigenous proverbs have outlived their usefulness.

“Some of the indigenous Ghanaian proverbs we have to amend it because it has outlived it’s usefulness and doesn’t reflect the times that we find ourselves,” he said.

“A typical example is saying in Twi that when an elderly baths then the water in the house gets finished, how can the water get finished? We’ll buy some, we have cars which supply water and we have reservoirs and boreholes.

“Like saying before a blind man will throw a stone then his leg might be on a stone, all these proverbs, adage and wise sayings need amendment because even our constitution we want to amend it,” he argued.
