President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will on Thursday (5 December) commission districts and specialised hospitals under the Agenda 111 initiative.
The healthcare facilities to be commissioned include the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital in the Ashanti Region.
The objective of this project as envisioned by the president is to ensure that Ghanaians in every district and region in the country have access to quality healthcare services.
These institutions, which include state-of-the-art equipment, skilled medical staff, and modern units, are designed to deliver services effectively and efficiently.
The presidential advisor on health, Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare said, “We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency centre, with a neonatal unit and pediatric unit. That is where small children will be, and older children also will be. With a maternity home, a kitchen, a mortuary, OPD, a pharmacy, an X-ray, and a laboratory, it is a complete hospital.”
“We have an eye department, dental department, ENT department, and consulting rooms. We have public health units inside the hospital.”
The district hospitals under the Agenda 111 programme presents an unparalleled opportunity to transform the country’s health care system creating a new standard on the continent.
The planned project will increase the availability of healthcare infrastructure in accordance with the government’s pledge to guarantee universal health care for all citizens and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) of the UN.
