Accra set to come alive with ‘Creation Africa Ghana: The Festival’

The French Embassy in Ghana is set to transform Accra into a cultural hotspot this Saturday (9 November) with the launch of ‘Creation Africa Ghana: The Festival’.

This dynamic celebration, hosted in partnership with Alliance Française Accra and Impact Hub Accra, promises an unforgettable day of art, music, film, and storytelling, showcasing the impact of its pioneering programme for young creators and entrepreneurs across Ghana.

Taking place at Alliance Française Accra, the festival will run from 3 PM to 11 PM, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in a vibrant mix of cultural experiences that celebrate a year’s worth of mentorship, cultural exchange, and entrepreneurial growth within Ghana’s creative industries.

Attendees can explore a series of engaging pop-up stands and interactive exhibits featuring some of Ghana’s most innovative brands.

These include fashion icons like Kayadua Studio and Fearnomanclothing, the eco-conscious Revival Earth Organisation, and tech-savvy outfits like Leti Arts and SPiiKA.

The eclectic display also highlights Afro Ele Studio, Wear Ghana, Akese Homeware, Bonobo Concept Store, and Grey Area Studios Ghana, among others.

Music lovers will be treated to a series of live performances, starting with an open mic session hosted by celebrated artists Ria Boss and Pamm Takyiwaa. The event will feature performances from talents like Ess Thee Legend, Stella Sena, and Boyd.

The night culminates in a headline concert by Pure Akan, whose soulful lyrics and rich sound are a powerful tribute to Ghanaian heritage and identity.

The festival’s storytelling segment brings to life “Gizo-Gizo: A Tale from the Zongo Lagoon,” an enchanting stage play adapted from Emily Williamson’s book and brought to life by Booksie in collaboration with Vivie’s Dance & Theatre Academy.

Film enthusiasts will not be left out, as the festival showcases an exclusive lineup of Ghanaian short films that delve into themes of self-expression, unity, and African identity.

The selection includes Neverland by Grey Area Studios, Fa Ma Omo (Give it to Them) by Emmanuel Addy, Born of the Earth by Kuukua Eshun, Tantra by Helel Smith, and Breaking the Mold by Michael Ansah.

Adding a thought-provoking layer to the event is the sound documentary L’avenir est déjà ici (The Future is Already Here) by Joewackle J. Kusi and Konstantina Stavropoulou.

This 15-minute documentary delves into antifascist activism in Brest, France, shedding light on community resilience in the face of rising extremism.

For those ready to hit the dance floor, DJ Elinam Yaa will be spinning her signature mix of beats, turning up the energy as the evening unfolds.

Meanwhile, fans of in-depth discussions can join the live recording of Jambo Spaces, a podcast celebrating African creativity and storytelling, providing a unique opportunity to connect with voices shaping contemporary culture.

No festival experience would be complete without a culinary journey, and the Ghana Food Movement is set to tantalise taste buds with an array of traditional and modern Ghanaian dishes, offering a true taste of the nation’s rich culinary heritage.

‘Creation Africa Ghana: The Festival’ is more than just a showcase—it’s a celebration of Ghana’s creative spirit, entrepreneurial talent, and cultural richness.

The French Embassy, alongside its partners, invites everyone to join this vibrant celebration of art, music, food, and creativity, making Accra the place to be this weekend.
